FAQ

Geographically, where will you do photo shoots?

San Jose is my base of operations, and I will do shoots anywhere within an hour’s drive of San Jose, including Santa Clara, Campbell, East Foothills, Milpitas, Cupertino, Los Gatos, Sunnyvale, Saratoga, Mountain View, Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, Fremont, Newark, Palo Alto, Stanford, Alum Rock, Cambrian Park, Redwood City, San Mateo, Atherton, Woordside, Menlo Park, Pacifica, Santa Cruz, San Francisco, and maybe a few I’m forgetting. I will travel 1-2 hours for a $100 fee. Anything farther needs to be negotiated.

At what locations will you shoot?

Pretty much anywhere that it’s legal and safe to shoot photos. I find shooting somewhere private, like your home/yard, is conducive to good photos because you and your pet(s) are both relaxed and comfortable and there’s no time pressure. I have a lot of experience shooting at dog parks, so that’s an option if you want off-leash, action photos and don’t mind other dogs potentially being in some photos. If you have somewhere special in mind, just ask, and I’ll do my best to accommodate your vision. I will not shoot off-leash anywhere that a dog is legally required to be on-leash.

Who can be in the photos?

Your dog, your cat, your turtle, you, your family, your friends, your bookie—It’s your photo shoot, so you decide who’s in it. You’re responsible for wrangling the pets and the people.

My dog is a puppy and won’t sit still. How are you gonna get photos?

Well, I like shooting dogs just living their lives and being dogs. I’ll shoot lots of candids and action photos. It might be a good idea to get some of that puppy power out before the shoot. But some of the best, most cherished pictures happen spontaneously with no posing needed.

My pet is a senior and nearing the rainbow bridge very soon, and I want to get beautiful photos before that happens. Is that possible?

Shooting someone with their senior pet is an honor, and I will do my best to help you create beautiful visual memories of your pet. My schedule is flexible, and I can likely work on a day’s notice in such a situation.

What should I wear to the shoot?

Wear something you’re comfortable in. No need to overthink it, though you might want to steer clear of patterns. Colors often look good and add interest to photos, especially if you have a white pet. But if you want to wear white to match your pet, go for it. This is your photo shoot, wear what you feel best in.

Can I talk to you about the shoot?

Of course, you can call me at 650-619-7589. Leave a message and I’ll get back to you that day. Calls after 6 pm will be returned the next day.
